Mars Ankle Boots by Rachel Comey

I've been sick the past three days and haven't had the energy to do much, like get out of my bedroom and see the sunlight. I got really excited on Monday though because my package from Assembled Hazardly arrived at my doorstep. I purchased these Rachel Comey Mars boots from her and I could not have been happier!

Since my sickness has taken over my life, I haven't been able to wear these out yet. Although I'm feeling pretty miserable, looking at these Mars boots from my bed is making me feel a lot better. I did try them on and I was quite surprised to know that they fit perfectly. I was worried they would fit narrow since I've read complaints about that, but they're surprising true to size.

I would like to thank Amanda of Assembled Hazardly for keeping these on reserve for me. It has been a real struggle to find these Mars boots in size 6 and I feel so lucky to have finally found them. You're also my savior!

Being sick isn't so bad when I have Seasons 1-5 of Saved by the Bell to keep me company too.

Madewell Wishlist

All I wanna wear these days are silk blouses and high-waisted denim. I own the Madewell Silk Bromley Blouse in taupe and I'm completely obsessed with it. It's light, airy, and has the most perfect loose fit. I'm also lusting over the Madewell High Riser Jeans. I have store credit so I'm debating on whether I should get these or another blouse? Hopefully I can make my way to South Coast Plaza this weekend to make that decision. These two pieces are absolutely essential to my wardrobe and are definitely worth every penny.

Unofficial Music Video for "Lofticries" by Purity Ring

This unofficial music video for "Lofticries" features footage from a 1974 Swedish film called Thriller: A Cruel Picture. Main character, Christina Lindberge, seems to play a role similar to that of Uma Thurman in Kill Bill.

Late Night Snack

When I was in Long Beach a few weeks ago, I tried looking for Jimmy Fallon's Late Night Snack flavor at Vons, Albertsons, and Food 4 Less. I couldn't find it so I gave up and ate "Chunky Munky" instead. I felt really guilty eating an entire pint of ice cream by myself, so I waited before I searched for Late Night Snack again. Well today, the wait was finally over and I got to taste it! It's vanilla bean ice cream with caramel swirls and chocolate covered potato chip clusters. It's really good, but I think "Cherry Garcia" still remains my favorite. I'm just a sucker for the crunchy fudge chunks in there.

The Adorable Sozi

Sozi is a character created by Rilla Alexander, an Australian-born Berlin-based designer and illustrator. I immediately fell in-love with her when Kris showed me this resign figure. Next thing I know, he surprised me with one! (and himself with a green version of her). She now sits happily on one of my bedroom shelves, thinking of new ideas to jot down in her book. If you adore Sozi, be sure to check out her online shop, blog, and website to learn more about her. Trust me, she is worth looking at if you have a kid-like imagination.

Birthday Present!

My birthday was on Sunday, April 17, and I celebrated with having breakfast at The Mission with a couple of friends, Starbucks with my brothers and dad, bike riding with Kris, and dinner at 25 Forty Bistro & Bakehouse in Old Town. Now I wish I had documented everything! I had incredible food the entire day and my super amazing boyfriend even got me my favorite tiramisu cake from Etna's.

What made me feel incredibly special was my birthday present from Kris. He took all the things I've made of us as "Where the Wild Things Are" (plush, drawings, and paper versions of us) and turned us into toys! He's a designer/vinyl toy collector and somehow, he was able to commission these one-of-a-kind customs. It's all done from scratch with no Dunny, Munny, or Mad*L figure as the starting base.

My heart melted when I saw them and when he told me how he's been planning this for months, it brought me to tears. I feel so lucky to have him in my life. He treats me so special and I only hope he feels the same.

If you're curious, we've been together for almost two years now. I think we're four months away? I've always been pretty terrible at keeping track of these things and he can definitely vouch for this! And on the subject of toys, Kris also blogs for Vinylpulse.com. Be sure to check that out!

A Sunday on La Grande Jatte with Babar

I sometimes scour eBay for Miffy stuff or Etsy for vintage toys. During my random searches a few days ago, I came across this adorable painting of "A Sunday on La Grande Jatte" by Georges-Pierre Seurat, but done with the one and only elephant, Babar! via Source.

I love these Koi fish designed and made by Mabona Origami. I wish I could have an entire wall filled with these fish! You can see more of their work and more on their Flickr photostream or here at the Etsy online shop.

Photography by Ann He

Ann He is a 16-year-old aspiring fashion photographer based in Texas, Dallas. I'm just amazed by the talent she has at her age. She already has done work for a few magazines, including Elle Girl Korea. Am I jealous? Absolutely. Why couldn't I have been this talented at sixteen?

Miffy in Fashion

The lovable childhood book character, Miffy, gets her very own exhibition in celebration of Dick Bruna Huis' fifth anniversary. Dick Bruna is the creator behind Miffy and the Dick Bruna Huis is actually a museum in Utrecht dedicated to all things Miffy. The exhibition will be showcasing party dresses designed for Miffy in this special occasion by international fashion designers, which include Saskia van Drimmelen, Claes Iversen, the British label Boudicca, Japanese label Anrealage, and Dutch fashion designer Jan Taminiau, who has dressed Lady Gaga. Over 100 fashion-related works will be exhibited beginning April 1, 2011 as part of "Miffy in Fashion." As some of you may know, I'm a big Miffy fan so it bums me out that I can't see this in person. How adorable is she in the YSL Modrian dress? Killin' me! via Source.

"Cut Me Out" by MNDR

You guys, I've been anticipating a music video from MNDR forever! Now the wait is finally over with "Cut Me Out." I really love her so this is super exciting for me since her full album isn't out yet. I've been itching for more of this girl since I heard her in "Bang Bang Bang" with Mark Ronson and the Business INTL.

Opening Ceremony Fall 2011 Lookbook

Opening Ceremony will always be one of my favorite brands because I feel they're always consistent with putting out great pieces. What I always seem to love are their dresses. I'm definitely eyeing a few from the Fall 2011 season, but unfortunately, I'm not sure if my wallet could handle it all. via Source.
